Educator Tilman Smith explains the white privilege that white kids receive that young black children will not see in their life time. Children with white skin that walk into the room that are animated and maybe acting a little cheeky are viewed as smart, and almost looked at with a “Boys will be Boys” mentality. A child of color exhibiting the same behavior is often looked at as a problem child that will need to be watch closely. Ise Lyfe also discusses the challenges that face young black men in educational institutions across America. Ise delves deeper into how black men are forced into steriotypical boxes such as being a good basketball player or able to rap or dance well when really all he really wanted to do is excel in school.
